My Little Triangle Quilt

I have been wanting to do a triangle quilt for some time.
I even bought a ruler for triangles last fall but had never figure out how to use it.
Then i came across a quilt on Pinterest and knew i had to try it.
Wouldn't you know the quilt was made by Lee from Freshly Pieced!
The quilt that became my inspiration can be found here.
My little triangle quilt has been hanging on my design board for a couple of months now.

This weekend i decided to take a break from my Marcelle Medallion Quilt and finish piecing this one.
I really only had a few seams left to sew.

I changed it just a tad...
I added one larger triangle.
Which was interesting, me trying to figure out how big it needed to be.
I've never been a super star in math.
Thankfully, for some quilt math there is an App for that.
Did you know that Robert Kaufman has an app?

I loved this print from Luxe in Bloom by Sarah Watson so much and wanted to use it
but by cutting it up so small you would completely lose the print.

I don't have the fabric for the backing yet but i ordered this print

Extravagarden Hush

I can't wait till it gets here and i can finish this puppy up.
I'm still  trying to decide how to quilt it.
A part of me wants to free motion quilt it.
I've been practicing.
but i'm scared!

  1. Oooh! I love this quilt. The big triangle is super fun and that backing fabric is awesome! I'm hoping to do some triangle work later this year, but I need to finish some other stuff first. (Isn't that always the way it is?) Lovely work!

  2. So pretty! And I love the extra touch of the larger triangle. Thanks for the heads up about the measurement calculator!

  3. I love your triangle quilt!

  4. I think this is a great quilt. I haven't tried triangles yet either. Future project here I COME!

  5. The bigger triangle is a great idea!

  6. That quilt top is beautiful! And thanks for the tip on the RK app!!

  7. I adore that quilt top -- fantastic!!!

  8. beautiful!! & i say go for the free motion quilting! pick something forgiving & give it a shot. i just did my first free motion quilting on a "real" quilt & while scary, it was also super fun.

    1. Could not agree more! I too have been playing with FMQ for little over a week now.... And I am hooked! Just try it out first and relax!

  11. Love the addition of the large triangle! And that RK app is fantastic - I use it all the time!

  12. The quilt is very beautiful and modern. looks awesome .

  13. Great triangle quilt! I finally made one too (finished it last month), and will definitely be making more. I like how you made one big triangle! I did something similar, but used all small triangles to make a big one. You can see it here: http://sparrowlanequilts.blogspot.com/2013/03/salt-water-triangle-quilt-finished.html I love how much white space is in your quilt, I will have to try something like that next time!

Thank you for your comment. They are so important to me and it's nice to know there is someone out there who is interested in similar things. I will do my best to respond to each one. Have a great day!
