Vintage Modern Baby Quilt

The Vintage Modern baby quilt is all finished and up in my shop.

The colors are so bright and really pop. This quilt only took one charm pack plus a few solids.

I still have another charm pack to do something different with.

It's the perfect size to fold up and stick in a diaper bag.

This quilt is available for purchase here!

New Project and a Winner!

First of all I started a new quilt today.  My Salt Air sold pretty quickly so I need to get to work and get a new quilt up in the shop.  I recently purchased some Vintage Modern charms.

So this....

turned into this

and then into this...

hopefully it will all be sewn together by the end of the night.

Now on to more important news...

The Sew, Mama, Sew! giveaway has come to a close and I can't wait to find out if I won something.

Fingers crossed!!!

I had over 370 entries for the Fat Quarter set of Miscellany by Cloud 9 Fabrics.

It's neat to read everyone's comments on what their favorite notion is and it seems to be a consensus,

the seam ripper is our most valuable player when it comes to sewing.

So without further ado...

Congratulations Sue!!

Laying Out My Swoon

I'm finally making some progress on the swoon quilt.  I had to put it aside for sometime to get some other projects done that had a deadline.  I finished all the blocks and deciding where I want each one before adding the sashing.  I have three options that I took pictures of

So what do you think?  Which layout do you like the best?  I'm so ready to be finished with this quilt...it's taking up my entire design wall ;0)

Finished!

I finally finished the salt air quilt!!!  It turned out better than I thought it would when I first started.  I just love all the geometry in this quilt and the colors really pop.  This quilt is also the first quilt I'm putting up for purchase in my etsy shop.

I hope to make many more to put in the shop.  I'm almost finished working on the baby quilt I was laying out a few days ago and it should be finished today and photographed tomorrow.

I hope you've enjoyed following me along on this quilt journey.  I can't wait to start my next project.  I just got in my charming solids club selection of Vintage Modern!  I'll have to think of something extra special for that collection.

As I said before the Salt Air Quilt is listed in my etsy shop Salt Air HST Quilt  SOLD

Ohhh The Quilting

I finally finished the quilting last night on the Salt Air Quilt.  I'm so pleased with it!!  My walking foot sure got a work out.  I was a little worried about over quilting it but after I finished I felt it was just right.

I'm anxiously awaiting the mail to arrive because  my binding fabric will be delivered today and then i can get this quilt all finished up.

Progress

Even with company this weekend I did manage to make progress on the Salt Air Quilt.  When I started this quilt I hadn't yet figured out what fabric I would use for binding.  I really didn't have anything on hand that would look good and the local shops around me don't carry this line of fabric {at least not yet} so i took to the internet.  I chose getting it quickly over the least expensive online shop.  Luckily the Fat Quarter Shop is in my backyard and this is what I chose for binding.

Too bad they are an online only shop,  I would probably camp out there if they were a brick and mortar.  Here are a few pics of my progress on the quilt

While I'm waiting on the fabric I am contemplating adding some quilting lines so that each seam is outlined.  What do you think?  Quilt more or leave it alone?

Since I'm undecided I decided to fill my time by layout a new baby quilt with blocks I've had done for awhile.  It's very similar to the baby quilt I made for my sister.

Hopefully both of these will be finished and up for sell in my shop by weeks end!

Salt Air HST Quilt

Yesterday I finished the Salt Air HST quilt top.  It was still raining when I finished so I had to wait till this morning to take some pics.  I love how it looks with the light coming through it.  I originally was going to layout all the hst in the same direction but then sewed a row the wrong way.  Instead of taking the seams out I just changed my layout. {Is that lazy or what} Ultimately I'm happy with the mistake and think the quilting will turn out really nice for this design.

I hope to get started on the quilting today and plan to sell this one in my etsy shop.  I'll post when it gets listed!

Gathered Baby Quilt

I recently finished up a cute baby quilt for the newest member of the family.  I had a ton of fun making this one and the fabric was just so pretty.  It was difficult for me to send it away.  I used Promenade from Riley Blake and I'm so glad I have some left over to use in another project.

I used a tutorial by Little Birdie Secret called Gather Love and you can find the tutorial here.  I must say I'm already having separation anxiety from this quilt.  But, I know that it will be loved and cherished!

Sewing with Sweet Sophie

{No animals were harmed in the making of this blog post}

My sweet cat Sophie has  been uncharacteristically awake and more characteristically

in the way!

Yesterday sweet Sophie decided the perfect place to look out the window was on my sewing table

{while I was attempting to sew}

even though she had an entire window ledge she could stretch out on.

She was quit content as her tail was swishing back and forth

Good thing I wasn't stippling!

despite the tail swishing distraction I managed to make some progress with my Salt Air charms

I was also able to cut them into fours and get them all pressed.

I'm still contemplating the layout but with any luck I'll have a quilt top done today.

Fingers crossed!
